Mythslayers where we dispatch progressive liberal nonsense like a swift boot of truth on a cockroach of lies.

“Doublethink…..The prevailing mental condition is controlled insanity… Doublethink lies at the very heart of Ingsoc, since the essential act of the Party is to use conscious deception while retaining the firmness of purpose that goes with complete honesty. To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing them and to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies – all this is indispensably necessary.”
— George Orwell. Nineteen Eighty-Four

Doublethink is the term used in George Orwell’s book 1984 to refer to the process of crafting a message so that the desired outcomes will be achieved, not so that the truth will be known. It’s “reality control”. Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them. It is a conscious deception told with conviction for the purposes of advancing your goals.

Here at the RLC of CD36, we’ll just call it by its real name: lying.

Progressives of all stripes love dishonest messaging. One of the ways they use dishonesty as a political tactic is to take a common societal virtue, redefine the terms of that virtue, and then pretend their radical marxist nonsense is that common societal virtue.

This brings us to the mythical Gunshow Loophole. You’ve heard the arguments:

It’s that horrible gaping loophole which allows the proliferation of guns to terrorists and gangs. It’s the source of all of our mass shootings. Why, if we don’t close this loophole felons, drug addicts and the criminally insane would be able to acquire guns. This is just good common sense and anyone who opposes government adding laws to close this loophole are ideologues bent on human destruction. This is why we should hate the NRA and Republicans and Jesus too.

Like most progressive nonsense, this doublespeak is intended to prick your heartstrings. Who could possibly be IN FAVOR of letting crazy felons, drug addicts, and mass murders own weapons capable of killing hundreds of people?!? You’d have to be a nut case to disagree! It’s for the children!

The truth: there is no such thing as a “gunshow loophole”.

That’s right. It doesn’t exist.

When you buy a gun at a gunshow, all laws regulating weapons must be followed. Just like when you buy a gun from Academy or any other gun store. The laws of the state do not magically cease to be enforced when you enter the mystical land of enchantment known as the “gun show.” To say otherwise is to embrace ignorance or to be knowingly dishonest.

So what is the gunshow loophole in reality?

Let us consult that bastion of conservative thought, Wikipedia:

“Gun show loophole, gun law loophole, Brady law loophole (or Brady bill loophole), private sale loophole, or private sale exemption is a political term in the United States referring to sales of firearms by private sellers or dealers, including those done at gun shows, dubbed the “secondary market”.[1] The term refers to the viewpoint that a loophole in federal law exists, under which “[a]ny person may sell a firearm to an unlicensed resident of the State where he resides as long as he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms”.[2][3][4]

Under federal law, private-party sellers are not required to perform background checks on buyers be it at a gun show or other venue. They also are not required to record the sale, or ask for identification. This requirement is in contrast to sales by gun stores and other Federal Firearms License (FFL) holders who are required to record all sales and perform background checks on almost all buyers, regardless of whether the venue is their business location or a gun show, even though there is common misconception that licensed dealers are not required to perform background checks if the transaction occurs at a gun show. Access to the NICS background check system is limited to FFL holders and FFL’s are not issued to persons that only sell firearms at gun shows.[nb 1]”

That’s right! The gunshow loophole is none other than private-party sales. “Common misconception” indeed. Wikipedia puts it mildly. More like common progressive lie to deceive the masses.

Progressives are all up-in-arms (figuratively speaking) because…. **GASP**….. private individuals can sell their firearms to other private individuals without having the government involved! Why, mayhem! That’s too much freedom for me!

You see, progressives cannot conceive of a world where private citizens take responsibility for their own actions.

“Oh no, we can’t have that. Then we’d have to punish those evildoers for their evil, when really it’s just their circumstances and society that’s really to blame. Now, government employees? They are our betters and they know better than we do what’s good for us. These angels in government have only the best intentions and are not subject to the flaws that normal humans–aka private citizens–are subject to. That’s why we can trust them with our protection, security, and health in all matters without question. Anyone who disagrees hates children and puppies.”

So when you see someone who uses the doublespeak term “gunshow loophole”, remain calm. Ask them what they mean by it. If they are someone who values truth, explain to them the real meaning of the term and the goals of those opportunists who use such terms to bend the truth at the expense of principles.

If you find yourself face-to-face with one of these opportunists, be sure and call them what they are: liars.

Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

Romans 12:9ff Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor… If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
