Eliminate the TEA and State Board of Education and put more control in local hands.

Provide each student with a voucher equal to 70% of current per student spending in his or her district to use at a private or charter school.

What would be the best drug policy for Texas?

Marijuana is a gateway drug and should be prohibited and users and sellers should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Marijuana possession should be allowed when there is legitimate medical need on a prescription basis.

Possession of Marijuana under 1 ounce should be legal for medical or personal use.

We should end the drug war, release non-violent drug offenders, legalize Marijuana and consider legalizing other drugs.

Why?

When and for what reason should state or local government be allowed to seize private property under eminent domain?

Never. Property rights are absolute.

After a hearing and on payment of full market value and then only for proven governmental need.

When the property can be put to a different use which benefits the community more than its current use.

When it serves the need of businesses which can profit from its use and expand the tax base.

Why?

From the current level, government spending should:

Increase to provide more goods and services for Texas citizens.

Decrease, returning any surpluses to the private sector through debt repayments and/or tax decreases.

Increase faster than the rate of inflation.

Be set at whatever level is necessary to fund worthwhile government programs.

What is your position on marriage rights?

Same sex marriage and same sex partnerships should be absolutely prohibited in the State of Texas.

Same sex marriage should be prohibited, but the Texas state government should recognize civil unions.

Marriage is a sacrament of the church in which government should play no role. Appropriate government agencies should be allowed to perform civil union ceremonies register contracts of civil union between any individuals.

Under the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment same sex marriage should be legal in all states.

What should state and federal policy be on immigration?

Open the borders. We need low-skill workers for menial jobs to keep wages down and stimulate the economy. Provide an easy path to citizenship for productive immigrants.

Establish a strong guest worker visa program to track immigrants. Let as many as want to come here to remain in the US so long as they have a job, but limit access to citizenship.

Secure the borders first and deport illegals before readmitting anyone. Use state police and guard units to enforce immigration policy if the federal government will not do so.

Illegal immigrants are a danger to the public and take jobs from American workers. Strengthen the borders and establish a national biometric ID system for citizens, followed by checkpoints and raids on workplaces to find and deport anyone who does not ha

The Constitution’s Article 1, Section 8 wording “Congress shall have power to provide for the General Welfare” means that:

Corporations that provide vital products or services should sometimes be prevented from going into bankruptcy.

A minimum standard of living should be provided for all US citizens.

The federal government should exercise power over issues that jeopardize the lives and safety of US citizens.

Any government action that can help citizens is okay to pursue.

How should Texas deal with federal programs which mandate state spending without providing funding or which violate the 9th and 10th Amendment guarantees of individual and state sovereignty?

The state legislature, in consultation with the people, should act to nullify federal laws which it views as unconstitutional and enforce that nullification against federal officials and agencies if necessary.

The state government should engage in organized non-compliance with federal laws determined to be unconstitutional by the Attorney General.

The Attorney General should sue in federal court to block the implementation of questionable federal laws and mandates.

The Texas government should comply fully with all federal laws.

What is the best way to encourage economic growth in Texas?

Lower taxes on individuals and on businesses including repealing the franchise tax.

Legalize casino gambling at race tracks and in designated areas.


Provide subsidies and tax incentives to selected businesses in target industries to encourage them to relocate to Texas.

Expand trade with Mexico and Central America with regional trade agreements.

What is the best way to provide equitable access to quality medical care?

Individuals should be allowed to buy health insurance freely from any provider without belonging to a medical group plan.


Employers should be required to provide health insurance for their workers.


Tax income to provide vouchers which citizens can use to buy private health insurance.


Government should tax the wealthy to provide health insurance for those who can’t afford it.
